Responsibilities Operate cremation equipment with mechanical knowledge to ensure proper functioning and adherence to safety protocols Handle heavy lifting of caskets, urns, and remains using industrial equipment or manual techniques as needed Transport remains securely and respectfully between facilities, vehicles, and storage areas in compliance with safety guidelines Maintain detailed records of each cremation process, including documentation of procedures and chain of custody Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on cremation machinery to ensure optimal performance Assist funeral directors with logistical coordination and support during funeral services or memorials Follow all safety procedures related to handling hazardous materials and operating heavy industrial equipment Skills Strong mechanical knowledge to operate and troubleshoot cremation machinery effectively Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in accordance with workplace safety standards Experience working with industrial equipment used in cremation operations or similar environments Background or training in funeral directing is a plus, providing insight into respectful service delivery Excellent attention to detail for recordkeeping, safety checks, and procedural compliance Compassionate demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supporting families during difficult times
