Position Overview The Medical Esthetician is responsible for providing advanced aesthetic skincare treatments, assisting patients in developing customized treatment plans, educating patients on skincare and product recommendations, and supporting the overall success of the aesthetic practice. This role requires expertise in evidence-based skincare, inclusive treatment protocols for all Fitzpatrick skin types, proficiency with medical-grade devices and lasers, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety and satisfaction. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted skincare expert while contributing to practice growth through exceptional patient relationships, education, and treatment outcomes. Primary ResponsibilitiesClinical Care Perform comprehensive skin assessments and consultations Develop customized treatment plans based on patient goals and clinical findings Provide advanced aesthetic treatments including: HydraFacial Chemical peels Dermaplaning Microneedling Medical-grade facials LED therapy Acne treatments Pigmentation management Anti-aging treatments Pre- and post-procedure skincare Perform laser and energy-based treatments in accordance with state regulations and physician protocols. Assist physicians and advanced injectors with comprehensive aesthetic treatment planning. Maintain detailed medical documentation and treatment records. Ensure patient safety through strict adherence to infection prevention, laser safety, and medical protocols. Laser & Device Treatments Experience with one or more of the following is strongly preferred: IPL Fractional laser resurfacing RF microneedling Skin tightening technologies Laser hair reduction Pigmented lesion treatment Vascular lesion treatment Laser rejuvenation systems Candidates without experience on specific platforms should demonstrate the ability and willingness to complete manufacturer certification and ongoing training. Inclusive Skin Expertise Candidates must demonstrate experience treating patients with: Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI Melasma Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation Acne in skin of color Sensitive skin Rosacea Ethnic skin considerations The ideal candidate understands evidence-based approaches that safely minimize the risk of pigmentation complications while delivering excellent outcomes across diverse patient populations. Patient Experience Excellence Deliver an exceptional luxury patient experience from consultation through follow-up. Build long-term patient relationships based on trust, education, and clinical expertise.
Educate patients regarding:
Treatment expectations Home skincare regimens Medical-grade skincare products Procedure preparation Recovery protocols Provide individualized recommendations that align with each patient's goals and lifestyle. Maintain professionalism, empathy, confidentiality, and outstanding communication throughout every patient interaction. Practice Growth Support practice growth through: Patient retention Membership participation Retail skincare recommendations Cross-referrals with providers Community engagement Social media participation (optional) Before-and-after photography documentation Maintain treatment room readiness and inventory. Participate in continuing education and team training. Required Qualifications Current North Carolina Esthetician License in good standing. Minimum 3 years of experience in a medical spa, dermatology, or plastic surgery practice. Experience performing advanced medical aesthetic treatments. Experience treating patients across diverse skin types and ethnic backgrounds. Strong consultation and patient education skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary aesthetic team. Commitment to continuous professional development. Preferred Qualifications Laser certification or documented laser training. Experience working under physician supervision. Knowledge of cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery procedures. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR). Experience selling and recommending medical-grade skincare. Current CPR certification. Experience with luxury hospitality or concierge-level patient care. Technical Skills & Certifications Preferred experience includes: HydraFacial Certification SkinPen Microneedling Chemical Peel Certification Dermaplaning Certification Laser Safety Officer training (preferred) Candela, Sciton, Cutera, Cynosure, Lumenis, Alma, or similar laser platforms BLS/CPR Certification Manufacturer certifications are highly valued. Laser Training Requirements Candidates should possess: Formal laser education or certification consistent with North Carolina regulations Understanding of laser physics and tissue interaction Knowledge of laser safety standards Competency in patient assessment and treatment planning Experience managing laser complications Commitment to ongoing manufacturer and continuing education training Additional platform-specific training will be provided as needed.
