The Embalmer Apprentice assists licensed embalmers and funeral directors with the care, preparation, and transportation of deceased individuals. This role provides hands-on funeral service experience under the supervision of a licensed embalmer.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with embalming, dressing, cosmetology, and other preparation procedures. Transport deceased individuals to and from the funeral home and other locations. Prepare individuals for viewing, services, burial, or cremation. Complete preparation reports, identification records, and other required documentation. Clean and disinfect preparation areas, instruments, and equipment. Handle and move deceased individuals safely and respectfully. Protect confidential information about deceased individuals and their families. Follow all applicable laws, regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Support funeral directors, embalmers, and other team members as needed. Perform all duties with professionalism, compassion, and respect.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. Enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited mortuary science program. Ability to obtain and maintain any required apprentice registration or authorization. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to handle deceased individuals with care and dignity. Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to stand, bend, lift, and assist with moving deceased individuals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shif
