Mortuary Transporter /
Removal Technician Reports To:
Operations Manager Job Summary:
The Mortuary Transporter is responsible for the professional, respectful, and timely removal and transportation of deceased individuals from residences, hospitals, nursing homes, and other locations to designated facilities. This role requires compassion, discretion, and attention to detail while maintaining the highest level of professionalism when interacting with families, healthcare staff, funeral directors, and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to service calls for the removal and transportation of deceased individuals. Safely and respectfully transfer decedents from the place of death to transport vehicles and deliver them to the designated funeral home, crematory, or medical facility. Ensure proper identification, handling, and documentation of remains in accordance with company policies and state regulations. Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and communication at all times. Provide compassionate and discreet support to grieving families and loved ones. Operate company vehicles safely and maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment. Follow all OSHA, health, and safety protocols, including proper use of protective equipment. Assist with after-hours, on-call, weekend, and holiday assignments as scheduled. Complete required paperwork and submit reports in a timely manner. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver deceased individuals and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. with assistance as needed. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with grieving families with compassion and professionalism. Ability to work independently and on-call, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Prior experience in mortuary transport, funeral service, healthcare, or emergency response preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
Work may involve exposure to biohazards and varying environmental conditions. Requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability for after-hours calls. Position may require extended periods of driving.

$44,611.59 - $85,000.00 per year
