Role:
East Lawn is looking for a dedicated and experienced Funeral Director or Funeral Arranger . This full-time position offers work hours, up to 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and capable of handling delicate situations with empathy and patience.
In This Position, You Will:
Be Professional:
Show respect and follow our values when interacting with clients and team members.•
Plan Funerals :
Help families choose service details, like type of service and merchandise.
Share Info :
Provide details about funeral options and maintain our displays of caskets and urns.•
Handle Paperwork:
Collect info for legal documents, such as death certificates, authorizations and permits.•
Coordinate Events:
Organize funerals, visitations, cremations and burials. Coordinate with cemeteries, florists and caterers.•
Arrange Services:
Set up clergy and pallbearers, and manage the setup at funeral sites.•
Prepare Sites:
Arrange caskets or urns at the venue and adjust decorations as needed.•
Manage Transport:
Handle or arrange transport for caskets, urns, and flowers.•
Discuss Prearrangements :
Talk with clients about preplanned funeral options.•
Handle Cremains:
Release cremated remains to families with care, following our policies.•
Admin Tasks:
Organize files, complete contracts, and process insurance claims.•
Collect Payments:
Ensure payment is received before services are provided.•
Understand Pricing:
Know and explain pricing lists, benefits, and pre-arrangement funding.•
Drive Vehicles:
Drive funeral vehicles like vans or hearses.•
Organize Shipments:
Manage the preparation and shipping of cases for out-of-state or international burial.•
Other Duties:
Handle any additional tasks as needed. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in funeral service or a related field Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks Confidence working with people in emotionally sensitive moments Tech-savvy enough to manage documents, emails, scheduling, and video presentations A calm presence, good judgment, and attention to detail Available to work any seven days of the week, including weekends and holidays Required High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred for Funeral Directors) California Funeral Director License (if applying as a Funeral Director) Funeral Arranger Certificate or willingness to obtain Valid CA driver's license with clean driving record Ability to lift 75 lbs and work indoors/outdoors in various weather Why East Lawn?
