Job Description

We are seeking a Funeral Director to join a family-owned funeral home serving the local community with compassion and dignity. We are seeking a compassionate Funeral Director to coordinate funeral services, support grieving families, and manage all logistical aspects of burials and memorial services. This position plays an important role in our day-to-day operations, and we are looking for someone who combines technical skill with a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and genuine care for the quality of their work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet with families to plan funeral or memorial services according to their wishes and budget.
  • Coordinate logistics for services, including transportation, venue arrangements, and scheduling.
  • Oversee preparation of the deceased, ensuring dignity and respect throughout the process.
  • Prepare necessary legal documentation, including death certificates and permits.
  • Guide families through decisions regarding caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise.
  • Coordinate with clergy, cemeteries, and other service providers involved in the funeral process.
  • Provide emotional support and grief resources to families during a difficult time.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations governing funeral services.
  • Manage funeral home operations, including staff coordination and facility maintenance.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science; valid funeral director license required.
  • Strong compassion and emotional sensitivity when working with grieving families.
  • Excellent organizational and logistical coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with legal and regulatory documentation.
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to remain composed and supportive during emotionally difficult situations.
Work Environment:
You will work closely with grieving families during one of the most difficult times in their lives, requiring deep empathy alongside precise logistical coordination. The role often involves irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate family needs and service schedules. Successful candidates will be comfortable adapting to a dynamic day-to-day routine, working both independently and as part of a coordinated team, and maintaining a professional, solutions-oriented attitude even when circumstances change unexpectedly.
