Job Description
Job Summary Kyger Funeral Home, founded in 1975, is an independently owned and operated firm with a crematory and two locations, serving the diversely growing population of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. With a long-standing reputation for professionalism and compassion, Kyger Funeral Home has been recognized by the Virginia Living Magazine, OGR and Best of the Valley. We are the first funeral home in Virginia to be certified by the Green Burial Council and proud to have opened the first GBC certified natural cemetery in Virginia, Duck Run Natural Cemetery. We are seeking an experienced funeral service licensee, who would be involved in all aspects of funeral service. This may include embalming and preparation work, at-need and pre-need arrangements, on-call schedule, removals, and any other delegated or shared responsibilities. Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee all funeral arrangements, including planning services, transportation, and document preparation Provide compassionate support and guidance to grieving families throughout the entire process Lead event planning for funeral services, memorials, and related ceremonies to ensure seamless execution Facilitate sales activities related to funeral merchandise and pre-arranged services with sensitivity and professionalism Ensure compliance with regard to legal and industry practices in accordance with State Board regulations and OSHA standards Qualifications Current Virginia Funeral Service Licensee or ability to obtain a Virginia license Previous experience is desired Excellent communication skills (in person, phone and email) with the mindset to provide sympathetic support during difficult times Ability to work weekends, a rotating after hours criteria schedule and limited on-call transfer schedule Experience in preneed sales and call management software is a plus Ability to obtain a Limited Lines Produces license from the Bureau of Insurance Driver's license with a good standing record Contact us to discover our evolving approach to honoring traditional services, cremation service beyond the simple disposition, and experience our direct connection to natural burial grounds at Duck Run Natural Cemetery.
