Load dirty linen into laundry carts and weigh loaded laundry carts on scales to ensure accurate weight. Sorts folded items and stacks articles by item and by color. Assist in issuing linen over the counter to clinics. Assist with gathering fresh linen to be carted to wards. Clean work area, car and equipment. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Moderate to Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required. Position is designated Mission Essential. Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Supervisor and/or Local Command Policy. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire). Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, or holidays, necessary to meet mission requirements.

I have the ability to perform common Laundry Worker duties such as collect, receive, and store linen and apparel, assemble and issue clean linen. I can set laundry machine by pressing keys and follow established sequences to set procedure accordingly of Laundry Work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort:

Incumbent must be able to handle or lift an average of 50 pounds and may be required to lift 100 pounds on a continuing daily basis.

Working Conditions:

Incumbent works outdoors to travel between buildings and indoors in a laundry processing area that is well lit. Worker is exposed to general hospital orders, hazards of sharp instruments or broken glass when sorting linen, and moving laundry trucks. Required to work on a rotating schedule subject to shift changes, changes in assignments, recall (in case of emer­gencies and/or absences, etc.). This position is more likely to be PM Shift 1:30pm-10:00pm. AM shift is 06:00am-2:30pm. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
