Job Description
The laundry attendant is responsible for sorting, washing, drying, folding, and stocking linen, terry, and any other washables. Required to follow procedures to reclaim stained items. Also expected to clean and organize the laundry room, and other areas determined by property management. Pre-sort laundry as it arrives. PPE (gloves) recommended. Stain items should be set aside and processed according to reclaim policy. Operate all machinery safely, effectively, and efficiently. Must not only understand the correct selection, but also the "flow" and timing of wash and dry cycles and folding times to keep the process moving with minimal downtime. Report any mechanical problems to maintenance and supervisor. Understand washing chemicals, the cycles in which they are introduced, and how to switch out chemical containers according to the third-party dosing equipment alerts that communicates with the washer. Inventory chemicals and submit order request to supervisor or management no more than twice per month. Understand the reclaim process for stained items and the chemicals used. This includes treatment, soaking, and correct wash cycles. Also includes accounting for worn, torn, and un-reclaimable items. Towels and sheets MUST be folded, bundled, and shelved according to type and count. This is VERY important to avoid setbacks in the housekeeping department. Check the pool and fitness center at the beginning and end of shift for dirty towels. Assist housekeeping department as requested and able. Check and stock housekeeping rooms on each floor. Assist in linen and terry inventory as requested. Clean machinery DAILY. The dryers MUST be cleaned of ALL lint in the trap area to avoid flash fires. Be careful of sensors when cleaning. Laundry room, linen closet, and any directly attached rooms will be the laundry attendant's responsibility to organize, clean, dust and mop. ALL laundry MUST be finished before leaving shift, unless otherwise directed by supervisor or management.
