Attendants may provide change for the machines, sell detergent and fabric softener and fix broken machines. When they do laundry for customers, they must identify the clothes with a ticket or another method so customers are confident they will get their clothes back. The laundromat attendant then sorts the clothes, operates the machines, adds detergent, dries the clothes and folds them. They collect the fee and must provide the clothes by the time that was promised. Other Considerations Laundromat attendants need a strong sense of honesty to deal with people's clothes and with the payments for services. They should be efficient, orderly and dependable. They should exhibit great attention to detail. They must have excellent customer service skills and maintain a sense of self-control when dealing with customers. They should be able to communicate in the language of most of their customers and should be able to cooperate and adapt easily to special requests. They also must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift heavy loads of clothes in and out of machines.
