Part-time or full-time; weekends and holidays required as scheduled Position Summary Responsible for the daily collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of all hotel linens, terry, and employee uniforms, ensuring an adequate supply of clean, inspection-ready linen is always available to housekeeping and food service. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized laundry room in compliance with brand standards and local health and safety regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Linen & Terry Processing Collect soiled linens and terry from housekeeping carts, linen chutes, and designated collection areas throughout the shift. Sort all items by type, color, and degree of soil; pre-treat and spot-clean stained items before washing. Load, operate, and monitor commercial washers and dryers according to manufacturer instructions, using correct cycle settings, water temperatures, and approved chemical dosages. Fold, stack, and organize linens to standard presentation; inspect each item and remove torn, stained, or worn pieces from circulation. Supply & Inventory Maintain par levels of clean linen on every housekeeping cart and in each storage closet; restock as needed throughout the day. Conduct daily and periodic linen inventory counts; report shortages, excess, or unexplained losses to the Head Housekeeper. Track and report linen consumption and discard rates; bag and log damaged linen removed from service. Notify management promptly when supplies, chemicals, or equipment parts need reordering. Equipment & Workspace Clean lint traps and filters after every load; wipe down machines and work surfaces daily. Keep floors dry, clear, and free of hazards; use wet-floor signage and proper PPE (gloves, apron, non-slip footwear). Report any malfunctioning equipment, leaks, or safety hazards immediately; do not attempt repairs beyond routine maintenance. Maintain the laundry room in a neat, sanitary, and inspection-ready condition at all times. Guest Service & Teamwork Greet guests encountered in hallways or public areas with a warm, courteous acknowledgment in line with Hampton brand hospitality standards. Deliver additional linens, pillows, or amenities to guest rooms upon request. Assist housekeeping with stripping rooms, trash removal, or other duties during peak periods or staff shortages. Handle guest laundry or lost-and-found linen items with care and report found items to the front desk immediately. Follow all established key control procedures when entering storage or supply rooms. Safety, Compliance & Confidentiality Adhere to all OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, and chemical safety guidelines, including proper handling, dilution, and storage of cleaning products. Follow hotel policy on infectious linen handling and universal precautions. Maintain the confidentiality of guest information and any proprietary hotel information. Complete all required brand and safety training within assigned timeframes. Qualifications Required Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English, including chemical labels and equipment signage. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Physical ability to stand and walk for an entire shift, and to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds repeatedly. Ability to work in a hot, humid environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and airborne lint. Preferred One year of commercial laundry, housekeeping, or hospitality experience. Familiarity with commercial laundry equipment and chemical dispensing systems Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a commercial laundry room, with frequent trips to guest floors, storage closets, and service areas. Exposure to heat, humidity, noise, cleaning chemicals, and possible bloodborne pathogens. Uniform and personal protective equipment provided. Performance Standards Clean, folded linen available to housekeeping at shift start and maintained throughout the day. Linen par levels met with no documented outages caused by laundry delays. Damaged linen identified and removed from circulation before reaching a guest room. Laundry room maintained inspection-ready and free of safety violations. Positive guest and coworker interactions consistent with Hampton hospitality standards.
