Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public. Must be able to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing laundry practices. Must be able to relate to and work well with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, an at times hostile people within the facility. May be exposed to infectious waste, and is at risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens, including HIV virus and Hepatitis
B. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
None required. On-the-job training provided.
HEALTH:
Must be able to pass a physical examination upon employment and periodically thereafter according to state requirement and have no handicap which would preclude the proper performance of the job. Must be able to move intermittently; stand, bend, lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc, throughout the workday.
DUTIES:
1. Perform the day-to-day laundry functions assigned. 2. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. 3. Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry procedures. 4. Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. 5. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. 6. Assure that established infection control practices arc maintained when performing laundry procedures in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, or as assigned by the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor. 7. Know of location of MSDS sheets, and how to use them.
