HR Job Description:

The Laundry Attendant maintains clean and sanitary laundry services for the Lake County Jail.

Duties:

• Washing, drying folding clothing, bedding, and towels provided by inmate residents
• Load and unload commercial washers and commercial dryers
• Select setting and measure laundry chemicals as needed
• Operate washers and dryers in accordance with safety guidelines
• Weigh, fold, and clean items
• Prepare and stage laundered items for pickup by jail corrections officers
• Perform light equipment maintenance
• Maintain neat and organized laundry area
• Report equipment issues, malfunctions, or safety hazards
• Monitor supplies and inventories
• Clean and disinfect laundry machines and work areas
• Secure laundry related equipment
• Document activity for laundry services
• Duties may vary and be assigned as needed to maintain laundry operations and meet the needs of the jail

Abilities:

• Ability to maintain attention to detail
• Ability and working knowledge to use a computer
• Ability to multi task
• Knowledge of basic math

Education:

Highschool diploma/GED Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to waist level
• Must be able to push and pull 75 to 100 pounds
• Ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours in a workday
• Must be able to walk up and down steps multiple times during the day
• Must be able to bend at the waist twist and rotate occasionally
• Must be able to work with arms bent or extended
• Must be able to crouch and kneel occasionally
• Must be able to use hands and fingers in order to grasp equipment and materials as needed
• Must be able to coordinate hands and eyes in operation of laundry equipment. Work Environment
• Indoor jail environment
• Fluctuating temperatures in winter and summer
• Working around laundry chemicals and cleaning agents
• Exposure to electrical and power equipment Work Schedule
• Monday- Friday
• No Holidays
• Weekends are optional
• 8:30 AM-4:30 PM
• Part time (29 hours a week) Experience preferred
• Knowledge of institutional or commercial laundering Additional Requirements
• Must be able to understand English, punctuation, and grammar principles
• Must be able to work independently
• Must be able to work as a team player
• Possess a valid Driver's License
• Required to pass a background check
