Job Description

Position Summary The Laundry Aide is responsible for providing clean, sanitary, and well-maintained linens, resident clothing, and facility laundry in accordance with Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community (SMRC) standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position plays an essential role in infection prevention, resident comfort, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. The Laundry Aide demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service while supporting SMRC's mission of providing compassionate, resident-centered care. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Laundry Operations Follow the daily laundry schedule to ensure timely processing of resident clothing, linens, towels, and facility laundry. Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, press, label, and distribute resident clothing and facility linens. Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently. Properly identify and label resident clothing to prevent loss or misplacement. Deliver clean linens and clothing to resident rooms and designated storage areas. Stock linen closets, bath areas, and other designated locations. Collect soiled linens and clothing throughout the day according to established schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laundry work area. Clean laundry equipment according to department schedules. Complete assigned weekly and monthly cleaning tasks. Assist with inventory of linens and laundry supplies. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Infection Prevention & Safety Handle soiled and potentially infectious laundry using Standard Precautions and facility infection prevention policies. Follow all OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standards and CMS infection prevention requirements. Teamwork & Professionalism Attend required department meetings, in-services, and mandatory education. Follow all SMRC policies and procedures. Assist other Environmental Services team members when needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Laundry Coordinator or leadership.
