Job Description:
The Laundry Aide is responsible for collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing resident clothing, linens, and facility laundry. This position helps maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized environment while ensuring residents receive their personal clothing and linens in a timely manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect soiled linens, towels, resident clothing, and other laundry from designated areas. Sort laundry according to type, color, fabric, and washing requirements. Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently. Fold, hang, organize, and distribute clean laundry to resident rooms and facility departments. Label and identify resident clothing as required. Inspect laundry items for damage, stains, or needed repairs and report concerns to the supervisor. Maintain accurate separation of resident clothing to prevent loss or misplacement. Follow infection control procedures when handling soiled linens and contaminated materials. Ensure laundry areas remain clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Monitor laundry supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory is low. Follow all facility safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned. Attend required staff meetings and in-service training programs. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a warm environment around laundry equipment. Working Conditions Exposure to cleaning chemicals, detergents, and disinfectants. Exposure to soiled linens and potentially infectious materials. Frequent contact with residents, staff, and visitors. Indoor work environment with exposure to heat and humidity from laundry equipment. Expectations Treat residents, families, visitors, and coworkers with dignity and respect.
