Job Description

The laundry worker will wash and dry linen and resident's clothes. He/She will see that all clean linen is accessible to the nursing staff. He/She will see that residents' clothes are promptly returned to the owners, are properly identified and repost losses and damages of resident's laundry. It is his/her duty to remove lint from tumblers and clan laundry. He/She maintains an inventory of linens and laundry supplies.
EDUCATION
Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience preferable but no essential Worker receives on-the-job training Must have an understanding of standard procedures used in laundry services for patients and in caring for clothes, linens, equipment and supplies Has an interest in learning, ability to cooperate, and is willing to work under supervision Must work hours as scheduled each week, working weekends and holidays as scheduled Must have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examination
RESPONSIBILITIES
To execute duties under the direction and supervision of the laundry department supervisor Must have a genuine interest in working with geriatrics Must be willing to handle soiled, dirty laundry Has the ability to work well with co-workers Must maintain laundry area in clean and orderly condition
