Do you enjoy sorting and organizing? Courtyard by Marriott at NMSU is hiring a Laundry Attendant to join the housekeeping team. As a Laundry Attendant, you play a behind-the-scenes but essential role in creating a clean and comfortable environment for our guests. Your dedication ensures that every towel, sheet, and linen item meets our high standards of cleanliness and helping us deliver the exceptional experiences our guests expect.
MAJOR DUTIES
Wash, dry, fold, iron, and organize all linens and towels according to hotel procedures and quality standards. Sort soiled laundry by type and soil level; treat stained items appropriately. Operate commercial washers, dryers, and folding equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain clean and organized laundry facilities by sweeping, mopping, emptying lint traps, and wiping down equipment. Monitor chemical levels and report inventory needs or equipment issues to the supervisor. Replace linens such as bed sheets and shower curtains as assigned. Restock linen closets and assist housepersons or housekeeping staff with deliveries and inventory. Clean and restock linen storage rooms and assist with monthly linen inventories. Report maintenance issues, equipment problems, or safety hazards immediately. Assist with other housekeeping or public area duties as requested. Follow OSHA regulations, hotel safety guidelines, and Bloodborne Pathogen Standards when handling biohazardous materials such as contaminated linens or bodily fluids. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe cleaning and disposal procedures. Maintain a professional appearance at all times, including a clean uniform and name tag. Communicate effectively with the Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Front Desk teams to ensure a smooth workflow. Always represent the hotel in a positive manner—SMILE!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stand and move continuously throughout the duration of the shift. Bend, stoop, reach overhead, and kneel frequently during the course of duties. Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance, including lifting items from the ground to chest level. Perform repetitive tasks such as folding, sorting, and loading/unloading laundry. Tolerate exposure to heat, humidity, dampness, in the laundry environment. Ability to use cleaning chemicals; must be able to wear PPE as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be over 18 years of age Prior experience in laundry or housekeeping preferred but not required. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction. Familiarity with cleaning procedures and laundry equipment a plus. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays when the hotel is busiest. Must be able to pass a criminal records background check
