Richmond Community Services, a leading non-profit provider of support services for Westchester County's developmentally, intellectually, and behaviorally challenged individuals are seeking Launderers to work in our community residence located Yonkers, New York.
Washing items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocolsCleaning and maintaining laundry room area and equipment.
Unloading laundry from commercial dryersStocking laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, laundry bags, and fabric softener.
Creating laundry tags with identifiable customer information. Salary based upon experience. Hourly rates start from $16.25 to $18.30.RCS123

Launderers are central in providing assistance, safety, and care to help our residents reach their goals.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Retrieves soiled linen and clothing items from the laundry shoot by continuously standing and by reaching in and pulling out items weighing up to 20 lbs. in the laundry work area.2. Sorts items by color, texture, and fabric type, including delicate fabric.3. Washes clothing by placing the soiled linen and clothing items into commercial type washer/extractors, then select and insert the appropriate program card designed for that particular load. Special handling must be used in the care of delicate fabrics to prevent damage.4. Sort clean linen and clothing and place them in the dryer, making sure of the appropriate setting on dryer turn and push the start button on dryer. During the drying process, consider the fabric and texture of the clothing whether to dry or how long to dry.5. Removes the dried linen, folds neatly and places the items on a laundry cart. Observes linen and clothing items as they are being folded and shall report those items that require repair or replacement. Sorts clothing by individuals room number as required. 6. Cleans and sanitizes the laundry work areas and equipment by bending to ground level and reaching levels of up to six (6) feet. 7. Delivers clean laundry and linen to designated areas by pushing/pulling laundry carts weighing up to 80 lbs. 8. As assigned, clean lint screens from dryer.9. Observe and replace detergents and refill as necessary at the end of the shift.10. Observe for any hazardous conditions/malfunctions with washers and dryers and report problems to the supervisor.11. Observe OSHA regulation standard policy for handling hazardous material. Uses PPE ( Personal Protection Equipment ) as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Educational:
H.S. diploma preferred.Experience:
Sorting linens, towels, clothing, and other laundry items by resident name.Washing items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocolsCleaning and maintaining laundry room area and equipment.
