GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Manager of Laundry Services. The Washer Equipment Operator's main job function is overseeing the Tunnel Washer computer system and operations that keeps track of multiple washer line-ups, appropriate washing formulas and load weights. Responsible for backing up Tunnel Washing and RAM systems, troubleshooting problems, and contacting inside/outside service when required. Implements alternate procedures until Tunnel Washing system returns to normal operation. Sorts soiled linen in between loads. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required
  • Familiarity or experience with computers preferred
Licensure:
  • BMLV required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)
  • BLS/AED training course within 90 days of hire required
Experience:
  • Three months preferred
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Responsible for the Tunnel Washer computer system and operations that keeps track of multiple washer line-ups, appropriate washing formulas and load weights 2. Backs up Tunnel Washing and RAM systems, troubleshoots problems, and contacts inside/outside service when required. 3. Sanitizes linen exchange carts. 4. Sorts soiled linen according to wash classification (formula) and weight. 5. Loads linen unto soiled washer monorail or into washer/extractor entering correct wash formula and weight. 6. Unloads dryers and loads clean linen unto monorail; or into laundry cart. 7. Coordinates and directs the distribution of laundry throughout the Laundry department by maintaining effective wash line-ups through the Tunnel Washing System. 8. Responsible for monitoring pumps and maintaining appropriate levels for chemicals and salt used in the Tunnel Washer. 9. Receives, stocks, and changes out chemical barrels from distributor. 10. Keeps work area clean and organized. 11. Performs routine preventative maintenance tasks. 12. Performs the duties of Linen Helper as needed. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. Why SOMC?
