Job Description

Purpose:
The Laundry Worker performs day-to-day laundry activities for the dining department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the facility towels, tablecloths, napkins, linens, etc., Reports to: Front of House Manager Primary Job Duties, under the direction of the
Executive Chef, Sous Chef and FOH Manager:
  • Launders dining linens such as tablecloths, napkins, towels and other dining linens, in a routine scheduled manner.
  • Irons all linens as applicable.
  • Exercises quality control in examining all linens before they are put out for reuse.
  • Uses time effectively, work with thoroughness, accuracy and neatness.
  • Operates and maintains laundry machines and equipment. Keeps laundry rooms organized and neat.
  • Calculates linen and laundry supply needs and have supervisor order accordingly. Keeps track of inventory and dispense supplies and linens as needed.
  • Communicates routinely with department staff concerning laundry concerns and needs.
  • Assures that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
  • Cleans laundry area floors, which includes sweeping, dusting and damp/wet mopping. Assures that appropriate safety signs are properly set-up prior to performing such duties.
  • Cleans walls, and laundry equipment by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing as needed.
  • Follows fire safety policies and procedures, reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor, and follows safety precautions when performing all tasks.
  • Keeps laundry doors closed.
  • Locks doors when goes to lunch, break or punches out.
  • Keeps privileged information confidential according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Upholds Laurel View Village's Code of Conduct and follows Corporate Compliance guidelines per the LVV Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties. Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns. Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position. Adheres to the Organization's Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Must have education ability to follow safety instructions relating to the mixture of cleaning compounds and safety/infection control practices.
Working Conditions:
  • Be able to lift, turn, bend, stoop and stretch.
  • May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in excess of forty (40) pounds.
  • Be on feet and walking for most of the working day.
  • May be exposed to infectious waste and disease such as HIV and Covid 19.
  • May be required to work on weekends, holidays, and on shifts other than the one normally scheduled.
Other Requirements:
  • Be able to operate laundry machines and equipment.
  • Have good ironing skill.
  • Be able to properly determine clean laundry quality according to facility standards.
  • Be able to communicate staff about laundry needs in a tactful manner.
  • Be able to determine laundry and linen supply needs and order according to proper procedures.
  • Be able to follow instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions and other safety-related procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Be able to work independently and follow instructions given by supervisor.
  • Must attend required training and education sessions offered by the facility.
