A Makeup Artist specializes in using cosmetics and applying makeup. Works in a salon and provides customized makeup for clients, or creates makeup for professional models, or works in a studio or theater to create makeup for actors and performance artists. May also advise on product development and participate in marketing for cosmetics companies.
Boutique luxury portrait studio seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Hair & Makeup Artist (or dual-trained cosmetology student/grad) for luxury personal branding, headshots, glamour, and family portrait sessions.
Responsibilities:
Provide camera-ready beauty makeup and hair styling tailored to each client (approx. 1.5 hours prep per person). Listen attentively to client preferences during prep and adapt styling graciously if adjustments are requested. Understand how studio lighting interacts with makeup (managing shine, and ensuring proper color balance). Remain on set during photo sessions for touch-ups, flyaway control, and wardrobe transitions. Maintain a client-focused, and professional atmosphere on set.
Privacy Standard:
No behind-the-scenes video recording on set during sessions, except for client-approved "before & after" beauty looks.
Ideal Candidate:
Skilled in both beauty makeup application and hair styling across all skin tones and hair textures . Receptive to constructive feedback, with a gracious, client-first mindset; able to comfortably adjust hair or makeup if a client requests a change without taking it personally. Owns a complete, professional kit and strictly adheres to industry sanitation standards. Punctual , polished, attentive to fine details, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Interested in ongoing, consistent freelance work.

Audition Requirements:
Candidates will bring one everyday person (a friend, relative, or colleague— no agency models or Instagram models, please ) to demonstrate a full hair and makeup look, as well as perform a hair and makeup application on the Studio Owner.
Audition Compensation:
In lieu of monetary payment for the audition, the candidate will receive two high-resolution, fully retouched digital images of their choosing for their professional portfolio ($1,200+ value).
