Casting "Elsewhere" (山海) a USC School of Cinematic Arts MFA thesis-level student short film, written and directed by Canran Shi. The story follows a young Chinese woman who returns home after the loss of her grandmother and falls in love with a man who she cannot build a future with. As she navigates love, family, and belonging across borders, she begins to confront the emotional cost of pursuing freedom. This intimate, character-driven drama explores love, displacement, and the sacrifices we make in pursuit of the lives we choose. The film is intended for submission to international film festivals.
