Casting "The Straight," an independent student film. Follows a broke young man's reluctant day-long errand across Detroit as an excuse to linger on the city itself, its architecture, its music, its people, echoing the loose, wandering spirit of the French New Wave over any tightly-plotted narrative. The briefcase he's carrying around barely matters in the end; what matters is the journey through Detroit's neighborhoods, culture, and soul, ending with him finally slowing down enough to actually see the city he's spent all day rushing through.
