Job Description
About the Program Summer SAT Scholars is a new small-group SAT intensive launching Summer 2026 at East Coast Scholars in Farmingdale. Each session runs two weeks, Monday through Wednesday, with morning and afternoon blocks available. Classes are capped at 8 students. Four sessions run from late June through early August, aligned with the August, October, and November SAT test dates. Every session opens and closes with a full-length Digital SAT practice test. Students leave with a concrete score comparison. The program is built around that proof of progress, and the instructor is central to making it real. The Role We are looking for an experienced SAT instructor to lead Summer SAT Scholars sessions in person at our Farmingdale office. This is not a standard tutoring assignment. The right candidate brings credibility, a demonstrated track record with students, and enough presence that families trust the program because of who is running it. The instructor will be responsible for: Delivering 18 hours of instruction per two-week session across math, reading and writing, test strategy, and timed practice Administering and reviewing full-length Digital SAT practice tests at the start and end of each session Adjusting instruction in real time based on student performance and individual needs within the class Communicating session outcomes to families in a way that reflects ECS's standard of care Participating in outreach and promotion of the program through your own professional network, where appropriate What We're Looking For Experience and reputation matter more than credentials here. We are not looking for a resume. We are looking for someone who is known in the community, has a track record of meaningful score improvement with students, and is the kind of instructor families recommend by name.
Specifically:
Deep familiarity with the Digital SAT format, including the adaptive structure and updated content areas A history of working with high-school students in competitive Long Island communities A genuine understanding of what the families in this market expect and what motivates students at this level The ability to manage a small classroom effectively and maintain student engagement across a 3-hour block Comfort being a visible, named part of the program, not just a behind-the-scenes hire We are looking for someone whose involvement lends extra credibility to our program. Schedule and Structure Four sessions running late June through early August 2026 Three days per week per session Morning block: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Afternoon block: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM 18 instructional hours per session per block Maximum 8 students per class Instructors may be asked to cover one or both blocks depending on enrollment. Specific days will be confirmed in advance of each session and scheduled around family and instructor availability. Compensation Compensation is commensurate with experience and will be discussed directly. Base hourly rate reflects instructional time. In addition to the base rate, instructors are eligible for a referral bonus for each student they bring into the program. We view this as a meaningful upside for the right person: if you have an existing relationship with families in the area and can speak to the program directly, that referral activity is compensated. Specific terms will be discussed as part of onboarding. About East Coast Scholars East Coast Scholars is a tutoring, test prep, and college counseling company based in Farmingdale, serving Nassau County families in Great Neck, Manhasset, Jericho, Syosset, Port Washington, Roslyn, and surrounding communities.
