Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Do you have a background in dance, cheerleading, athletics or theater? Do you have a big personality and a lot of energy? Klamath Community College is seeking an outgoing and energetic individual to perform as "Baxter the Badger" for various KCC events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Represent KCC as Baxter the Badger at various on-campus events including new student orientation, welcome week, KCC graduation, etc. Interact with and entertain people of all ages, including small children. Baxter will march in parades, attend community events such as the Klamath County and Tulelake Fair, accompany KCC staff on high school visits, and represent KCC at Third Thursday and at charitable fundraisers for the KCC Foundation. Other community events where Baxter is requested as needed. Maintain an animated personality with good interpersonal communication skills and creativity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
Must be available to work scheduled event dates, including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to communicate nonverbally through gestures, body movements, etc. Must fit Baxter's suit comfortably. Must be comfortable in tight, confined spaces (not claustrophobic)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Baxter's costume weighs over 20 lbs. and the temperature inside the costume can get hot. The person selected for this position must be physically fit and able to work in a costume for up to several hours at a time with limited vision and ventilation. This position is classified as part-time and is typically scheduled for up to 20 hours per week. Regularly scheduled hours may be subject to change. Hours may not exceed 128 hours per one-month pay period. Not eligible for paid holidays, vacation or healthcare benefits beyond those required by law. This position is classified as temporary and is intended to meet short-term operational needs. Employment in this role does not carry an expectation of ongoing or regular employment. The position may be terminated at any time, with or without cause or notice, and does not confer eligibility for benefits beyond those required by law.
