I'm looking for an experienced and detail-oriented seamstress, tailor, or sample sewer to help with custom garment projects. This is not a large retail alteration position — I'm looking for one skilled person who can help bring clothing ideas to life through clean sewing, thoughtful construction, and strong attention to fit. The work will include sewing custom garments for myself and possibly other people, including pieces like shirts, T-shirts, jackets, denim, trousers, and other clothing samples. I'm especially looking for someone who enjoys making garments from scratch, improving fit, and working on creative apparel projects. This would be a great fit for someone who has experience with garment construction, alterations, sample sewing, or small-batch apparel work. Responsibilities Sew custom garments and samples with a clean, professional finish Make fit adjustments and alterations when needed Work with different fabrics, including cotton, denim, knits, shirting, and jacket-weight materials Use sewing machines and hand-finishing techniques where appropriate Communicate clearly about construction, fit, timing, and project details Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship and attention to detail Ideal Experience Experience sewing garments, samples, alterations, or custom clothing Patternmaking experience is a plus, but not required as all patterns are made by my pattern maker using CLO3D (digital pattern software). Comfortable using industrial sewing machines Experience with straight stitch, overlock/serger, and coverstitch machines Able to read or work from patterns, garment samples, sketches, or measurements Strong understanding of fit, fabric behavior, seams, hems, and garment finishing Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on one-off/custom projects Type of Work This is a freelance / part-time project-based role . I'm looking for someone local to Orange County, ideally near Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, or surrounding areas . The goal is to find someone I can work with regularly as projects come up — someone who enjoys clothing, craftsmanship, and making well-finished custom pieces.
