Must work well in a team and independently. We are a nearly 20 year old bridal accessories design studio, located in West Salem in a brightly lit space. This position will have a variable workload between 15-40 hours/week with an expected long-term estimate of 20-30 hours/week. We are looking to hire someone immediately. If you are confident with sewing, crafting and enjoy making pretty things, this job is for you! We will also provide all necessary one-on-one training but having a background in sewing is a plus. We mainly cut and sew veils, gloves, hats and other bridal accessories. Our primary fabrics are tulle, lace and silks. Applicant does not have to have professional sewing experience but we are looking for someone that is experienced with sewing projects. Detail oriented. Specifically, we are hoping to find someone with experience machine sewing, hand sewing, embroidering, and crafting (jewelry, clay, wire). Here is a more comprehensive list of skills we are looking for (but will also train): Responsibilities 1. Sewing, fabric cutting and patterning (and using patterns) 2. Machine sewing 3. Clay sculpting (not required but a plus) 4. Wire work and simple jewelry making techniques (not required but a plus) 5. Repetitive gluing 6. Repetitive packaging of product Additional skills that we are hoping someone might possess: 1. Shipping and order fulfillment experience 2. Organizational skills 3. Basic computer knowledge (emailing, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) The type of work you would be expected to do will change daily depending on the orders we receive but can sometimes be highly repetitive (
Example:
if we receive 100 unit orders on 1 style). On other days, it might be packaging product, keeping the studio tidy or conducting inventory. You must also be able to lift up to 20-30 lbs (not common). May be required to stand or sit for several hours depending on the product you are creating or task you are accomplishing, though we're pretty flexible and encourage actively changing up your work position as needed. Must have a mobile device capable of receiving and sending texts and emails (primary method of communication). We use apps for production scheduling and time sheets, so your device must be able to operate these apps. As we are a micro small business, most team members wear many hats and may be asked to both handle production of a selection of styles and order fulfillment/shipping. We're a friendly and tightknit group of artisans that have worked together for many years and love welcoming new team members.
Some perks include:
Flexible hours (M-F, 9-5pm), sick and vacation pay, holiday party, Audible library, discounts on products Opportunities for travel, self-led design and advancement possible. This is an entry level position with a starting pay of $16.00/hour or greater, depending on experience.
