We are seeking an experienced Seamstress & Tailor with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tailoring skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with a variety of garments, fabrics, and alterations. Position Overview The Experienced Seamstress & Tailor will be responsible for performing professional alterations, tailoring, repairs, and garment modifications while maintaining the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. This position will work closely with our showroom and sales team to ensure that every garment fits properly and meets the client's expectations. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, manage multiple garments and deadlines, and consistently produce clean, precise, and professional results. Key ResponsibilitiesTailoring & Alterations Perform professional alterations on men's and women's garments. Complete alterations on suits, tuxedos, jackets, pants, shirts, dresses, gowns, formalwear, and other garments. Perform hemming, tapering, waist adjustments, sleeve alterations, jacket alterations, and garment resizing. Perform zipper replacement, repairs, button replacement, seam repairs, and other garment repairs. Adjust garments for proper fit, proportion, and comfort. Perform complex alterations when required. Work with delicate, specialty, and formalwear fabrics. Maintain clean, accurate, and professional workmanship. Fittings Conduct professional garment fittings with clients. Take accurate measurements and identify necessary alterations. Communicate clearly with clients regarding fit, alterations, and expected results. Make professional recommendations based on garment construction and the client's desired fit. Work closely with the showroom team to ensure alterations are completed according to client specifications. Quality Control Inspect garments before and after alterations. Ensure stitching, seams, hems, and finishing are clean and secure. Identify construction issues or potential fitting concerns. Maintain consistent quality standards on every garment. Ensure completed garments are properly pressed, finished, and ready for client pickup. Production & Organization Manage multiple alteration orders while meeting established deadlines. Maintain an organized and professional work area. Properly handle and care for client garments. Maintain accurate alteration notes and work instructions. Communicate any concerns, delays, or special requirements to management. Coordinate with the showroom and sales team to maintain an efficient workflow. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Seamstress, Tailor, or Alterations Specialist. Strong knowledge of garment construction and alteration techniques. Experience working with men's and women's clothing. Experience with suits, tuxedos, formalwear, dresses, and other structured garments preferred. Ability to perform both basic and advanced alterations. Strong understanding of garment fit, proportions, and construction. Excellent sewing and machine-operation skills. Ability to work with different fabrics and garment types. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Reliable, punctual, and professional.
