Job Description
RC Furniture is a leading fine upholstered furniture manufacturer based in Southern California since 1984. We supply furniture retailers nationwide and specialize in high-quality, custom upholstered furniture. We are currently seeking experienced Custom Upholsterers to join our team. Job Summary The Custom Upholsterer is responsible for fitting, padding, and upholstering high-end, made-to-order furniture using fabric, foam, and specialty materials. This role requires craftsmanship, precision, and the ability to work from custom designs, patterns, and specifications to create furniture that meets RC Furniture's quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Upholster custom furniture frames including sofas, chairs, sectionals, and specialty pieces
- Apply foam, Dacron, felt, and fabric to frames to achieve clean, tailored finishes
- Cut, fit, stretch, and staple upholstery materials using hand tools, air tools, and adhesives
- Shape and smooth padded surfaces for a premium appearance
- Install webbing, springs, and cushioning as required
- Read and follow custom work orders, drawings, and fabric layouts
- Inspect frames and materials for defects before upholstering
- Make adjustments, corrections, and repairs as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work area Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of custom upholstery experience in furniture manufacturing or upholstery shop
- Experience working with high-end fabrics, patterns, and custom specifications
- Proficient with upholstery hand tools, staple guns, air tools, knives, and glue guns
- Strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in finished work
