Job Description

Custom Rodeo Chap Builder 4410 New Haven Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46803 Full-time Full-time Beastmaster Rodeo is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Rodeo Chap Builder to design, cut, and sew high-quality, custom-fit rodeo chaps. This role requires exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and precision to produce durable and visually distinctive products tailored to individual customer specifications. You will be responsible for creating gear that not only stands out in the arena but also withstands the rigorous demands of the sport.
Key Responsibilities Custom Design:
Create unique rodeo chaps based on specific client measurements, preferences, and performance needs.
Precision Cutting:
Cut leather and other high-grade materials with precision, ensuring minimal waste and optimal use of resources.
Assembly & Sewing:
Sew and assemble chaps using industrial sewing machines and specialized hand-stitching techniques as required. Training is available.
Artistic Detail:
Incorporate decorative elements including fringe, leather tooling, inlays, and custom patterns to meet the "Beastmaster" standard. Not required but an advantage.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure the proper fit, comfort, and long-term durability of every finished product.
Client Collaboration:
Work directly with clients to refine designs, provide professional recommendations, and ensure total satisfaction.
Shop Maintenance:
Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
Project Management:
Manage multiple custom projects simultaneously while strictly meeting production deadlines.
Qualifications Technical Experience:
Willingness to learn leather working, garment construction, or a related artisan craft.
Equipment Proficiency:
Some proficiency with leather cutting tools, industrial sewing machines, and various leather working techniques.
Detail-Oriented:
A strong commitment to craftsmanship and a "perfectionist" approach to detail.
Measurement Interpretation:
Ability to accurately interpret custom design requests and anatomical measurements.
Self-Starter:
Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with sewing, cutting and garment fitting. Deep knowledge of different leather types, weights, durability, and finishing techniques. Basic patternmaking and template development skills. Work Environment Standard workshop or studio setting. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and the strength to handle leather hides that weigh 15-20 lbs. and materials.
