Temp To Full-Time Our client in Taylor, MI is in need of an experienced Fabricator for their shop. This is a 3rd shift position (11p-7a), Monday-Friday with possible overtime, $23-$28 per hour to start, all positions are contract to hire.
Essential Functions of Job:
The essential functions of the job include: Fabricating and assembling structural metal products according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints Developing layout and plans sequence of operations Applying knowledge of basic shop math, trigonometry, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and physical properties of metal Locating and marking bending and cutting lines onto work piece Setting up and operating fabricating machines; hammering, chipping, and grinding work piece to cut, bend, and straighten metal Preheating work pieces Positioning, aligning, fitting, and welding parts together parts Designing and constructing templates and fixtures Verifying conformance of work piece to specifications Fabricating and assembling sheet metal products Setting up and operating machine tools associated with fabricating shops Interpreting blueprints Laying-out and building fixtures Fabricating parts to drawing, fixtures and vehicles with minimal direction from engineers Operating machinery and equipment as directed Processing parts (form, cut, grind, weld, clean, finish, assemble, package and transport) Cleaning and other general shop tasks Performing other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. Skills required to carry out the essential functions include the ability to: Learn and master new skills UInderstand and follow directions and rules Safely and effectively operate various machinery and equipment Produce (quality and quantity) parts that meet specifications and expected output levels Visually identify and correct deficiencies in parts produced Interact appropriately and collaborate with fellow employees and management Communicate effectively (written and oral) with other WEI employees and management Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service Work efficiently in a fast paced manufacturing environment with the flexibility to prioritize duties and multi-task at different levels Equipment operated as part of the essential functions: (includes but is not limited to) MIG-TIG welders, oxyacetylene torch, punch press, end-finishing machines, hand grinding tools and saws, brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, drill presses, hand torch or furnace, square, ruler, measuring tape, radial drill press, end mill, edge planer, metal shear, drill press, press brake, arbor presses, end finishing machines, forklift truck, telephone, computer and related technology. Attendance/Hours required as part of the essential functions: Full time, 40 hour, 5 day work week unless the company approves less than full-time employment. Overtime to accommodate production schedules may be required. Physical requirements which are part of the essential functions: Standing, sitting, moving, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping hearing or equivalent, sight-visual acuity. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers including fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism; skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects; coordinating the movement of more than one limb simultaneously and bending or stooping repeatedly or continually over time. Mental requirements which are part of the essential functions: The ability to; read and understand job instructions; effectively communicate and interact with others. Educational and or prior experience requirements include: Fabricators must have 2-3 years experience and be able to interpret blueprints, lay-out and build fixtures, fabricate parts to drawing, fixtures and vehicles with minimal direction from engineers. Must be familiar with all equipment listed above. Must have general inspection knowledge and understand and be able to apply basic shop math and trigonometry. #MI1
