Woodshop Helper Vancouver, WA Day Shift Job Description This role supports the fabrication of large timber components for structural and architectural park construction projects. You will work with wood in a production shop environment, using power and hand tools to lay out assemblies, saw and drill parts, perform quality checks, and prepare materials and outgoing shipments. The position requires strong tape measure proficiency, the ability to read drawings and blueprints, and confidence operating a forklift while working safely and independently. Responsibilities Lay out wood assemblies according to drawings and blueprints for structural and architectural park construction projects. Saw timber parts to size as needed based on drawings and specifications. Drill timber frames to prepare structural and architectural pieces for fabrication. Perform wood fabrication on large timber forms using power tools and hand tools. Handle materials throughout the shop, including loading, unloading, and staging components for production. Prepare outgoing shipments for customer orders, ensuring correct materials, quantities, and packaging. Conduct quality checks using measurement tools and blueprints to verify accuracy of assemblies and parts. Use a tape measure accurately to confirm dimensions and tolerances on all fabricated components. Operate a forklift safely to move materials, finished goods, and large timber components within the facility. Work autonomously to complete assigned tasks while maintaining productivity and safety standards. Follow shop procedures and safety guidelines when using tools, equipment, and handling materials. Assist with general shop helper duties as needed to support overall fabrication operations. Essential Skills Proven ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints to ensure assemblies are made correctly. Strong tape measure proficiency, including accurate measurement and verification of dimensions. Forklift experience is required, with the ability to safely move materials and large timber components. Hands-on experience with wood fabrication, particularly on large timber forms. Proficiency using power tools such as saws and drills in a fabrication or shop environment. Proficiency using hand tools for woodworking and assembly tasks. Ability to perform quality checks using measurement tools and reference drawings. Capability to work autonomously and manage tasks with minimal supervision. Comfort working in a shop helper capacity, supporting multiple fabrication tasks as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication shop environment. Background in woodworking, carpentry, or related trades involving structural or architectural components. Familiarity with assembling products such as benches, playground equipment, or similar outdoor structures. The work involves regular use of power tools, hand tools, measurement tools, and forklifts around large timber components and fabricated structures. Employees should be prepared for a hands-on, physically active setting with typical industrial shop conditions and appropriate work attire suited to a fabrication environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
