Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, providing support to veterinarians and ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients. This role involves assisting with various clinical tasks, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and interacting with pet owners to provide excellent customer service. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Perform animal handling, including restraint techniques for various species. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including injections and oral medications. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments provided. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Ensure cleanliness of the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinarian promptly. Assist in laboratory procedures, including sample collection and processing. Provide basic grooming and care for animals in the clinic. Skills Kennel experience is preferred to ensure familiarity with animal care environments. Understanding of animal husbandry practices to promote health and well-being. Previous veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus. Knowledge of veterinary critical care protocols is beneficial. Proficiency in veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the clinic. Strong skills in animal restraint techniques for safe handling during examinations. Experience with medication administration, ensuring compliance with veterinary instructions. Solid background in animal physiology and anatomy knowledge to assist in clinical assessments. Aseptic technique knowledge is essential for maintaining sterile environments during procedures. Laboratory experience is beneficial for assisting with diagnostic tests.
