Job Description

Join our dynamic veterinary team in West Mobile as a Veterinary Technician/Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional veterinary care. This position requires that the applicant has experience in a clinical setting. In this role you will support the veterinarians and pet owners by assisting with medical procedures, animal handling and client communication. The candidate should be able to multi-task, be detail oriented and provide excellent patient care. Interacting with clients with a positive and caring attitude while maintaining excellent communication skills (written and oral) is required. The ability to keep accurate medical records is also vital. We are seeking a person who can work well with other members of the team. If you are a LVT, CVT, or RVT you will be able to develop and put your skills to use, while making a difference in animals' lives. Candidate must be able to work the hours assigned within the work week and be willing to work occasional overtime, if needed. Education requirement is either graduation from an Accredited Veterinary Technology program or a high school diploma/equivalent with experience in the veterinary field. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments and surgical procedures ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and veterinary protocols. Handle animals safely and confidently using proper restraint techniques. Prepare animals for procedures. Support diagnostic processes by collecting samples for laboratory testing, taking X-Rays and maintaining equipment. Administer medications, perform catheterization (LVT, CVT, RVT) and monitor vital signs during critical care situations. Maintain accurate medical records, update patient files with treatment details and document laboratory results and radiographs. Educate pet owners on pet care, animal physiology, dental terminology and post treatment /surgical instructions to promote ongoing health and recovery. Experience Prior Clinical and Kennel experience required. Familiarity with Veterinary terminology, animal anatomy and veterinary critical care highly desired Experience with laboratory work and radiology. Patient restraint skills/expertise are essential for safe patient management.
Pay:
$12.00 - $15.00 per hour
