Job Description

Countryside Animal Hospital has served the City of Montevallo and surrounding areas with trusted veterinary services since 1980. Our patients are primarily dogs and cats, and we provide routine medical, surgical, and dental care, treat emergency cases, and offer boarding and basic grooming services. Countryside also partners with local rescues and humane societies to provide quality, affordable spay, neuter, other surgical, and post-adoption care to our community. Currently, we are seeking a part-time kennel assistant to join our animal-loving work family. This position does require weekend and holiday availability. Working alongside other kennel assistants and staff, this individual's duties will include: Caring for all pets hospitalized and/or boarding with us, including multiple walks per day, food and water, play, and medication administration. Restraining animals in a caring, safe, effective manner Performing nail trims, expressing anal glands, cleaning ears, and performing bathing and occasional grooming services. Daily cleaning and trash collection, including the kennel, restroom, and the front of the clinic. This includes safe handling of hazardous chemicals and materials. Collecting and preparing laboratory samples, such as those for fecal and urine analysis Utilizing and maintaining medical equipment, such as the autoclave and other tools used in daily operations Sterilizing surgical equipment and assembling spay and neuter packs. Laundering blankets and towels for the kennel and clinic use
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or GED certificate Must be at least 18 years of age Flexible schedule, including weekends and some holiday shifts Some knowledge of animal handling preferred Must be team-oriented, possess strong communication skills and good judgment, and be able to manage stressful situations Must have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and technology Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Pay & Benefits:
Starting pay range of $12-$14/hour, based on experience Discounted veterinary care
