  • The veterinary assistant is essential to the entire team's success, providing crucial support across all departments to ensure exceptional care for clients and patients.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient care and treatment.
  • Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care.
  • Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed. Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
  • Support routine diagnostic tests (e.g., taking radiographs, running blood work, reading fecal samples).
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and exam and treatment areas in the hospital. Administer medications under the supervision of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
  • Feed and bathe animals.
  • Answer phone calls and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist clients with their pets' needs.
  • Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, multitask, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine enjoyment of working with animals, including those that may be stressed, ill, or in pain.
  • Preference for candidates with 1+ years of experience, although it is not required. Capability to meet the physical demands of the job, which includes lifting, carrying, and restraining animals (assistance will be available for lifting animals over 40 lbs; must be able to lift 40 lbs independently).
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and frequently work in a bent or squatting position.
  • Experience with teamwork and the ability to collaborate well with all levels of hospital staff.
