Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and procedures Safely restrain animals for exams, diagnostics, and treatments Collect and prepare lab samples (blood, urine, fecal) Perform or assist with radiographs Monitor patients during treatment and hospitalization Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas Administer medications and treatments as directed Maintain accurate medical records and documentation Communicate clearly with team members and support client care Assist with cleaning, stocking, and overall clinic organization Support a fast-paced urgent care workflow with flexibility and efficiency Skills As an Urgent Care Technician/ Assistant, you will: Perform a Phlebotomy, intravenous catheter placements, laboratory testing, among other important technical skills Monitoring sedated and anesthetized patients Triage urgent care cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Have patience and empathy to address client concerns and learning team members. Be able to conduct oneself in a professional manner Accurately record controlled drugs Have a knowledge of common veterinary drugs, their uses, side effects and dosages Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment
