Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians in providing exceptional animal care and ensure smooth clinic operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for animal welfare and relevant veterinary experience to contribute to a caring and professional environment. We are looking for someone to work Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 7:30-5:30 and take care of kennels/boarding animals and clean every 3rd weekend. Responsibilities Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff Administer medications and vaccines accurately following veterinary instructions Support animal husbandry tasks including feeding, bathing, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas Handle animals of various species, including dogs, cats, and equines, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures, including sedation and catheterization as needed Maintain detailed records of treatments, medications, and procedures in accordance with clinic protocols Assist with laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and basic testing procedures Support front desk duties when needed, including client communication and appointment scheduling Follow aseptic techniques to prevent infection during clinical procedures Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment Skills Prior kennel experience and animal handling skills are highly desirable Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices Experience with medication administration, animal restraint, and laboratory procedures in a veterinary setting Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices and emergency response protocols is a plus Ability to handle various animals including dogs, cats, and horses (equine experience is advantageous) Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine Previous veterinary assistant or clinic experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate This position provides an enriching environment for those passionate about animal health and welfare.
