We are a veterinary urgent care hospital located in Surprise, Arizona. See our new facility on our hospital on Instagram (@urgentpetcare) and Facebook. We are seeking valuable team members whose experience and ideas will contribute to shaping Urgent Petcare! We are looking to add on an experienced veterinary assistant to join our team for the beginning of the week: Sun, Mon, Tues/Wed. Full time employees work 3 x12 hour shifts a week. This schedule is subject to change depending on hospital needs. Technical Expectations
  • Triaging pets
  • Obtaining and documenting vital parameters into our electronic medical software
  • Complete tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Assisting our emergency veterinary technicians with placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters in a diverse set of patients, including neonates, seniors, debilitated, dehydrated or critical patients.
  • Assisting our emergency veterinary technicians with placement and maintenance of feeding tubes, central intravenous catheters, nasal oxygen cannulas, male and female urinary catheters
  • Assisting our emergency veterinary technicians with pre-anesthetic, anesthetic, and post-anesthetic processes. This includes competency in current anesthetic medications, monitoring, intubation, troubleshooting, documentation, and recovery of patients
  • Perform patient restraint, patient handling, acquisition of x-ray and ultrasound images, and patient treatments
  • Assisting in CPR
  • Maintenance of clean kennels and workspaces in between each patient
  • Post-euthanasia care of body preparation
  • Assisting our client service representative team as needed Writing and Communication Expectations
  • Superb communicator with team members, veterinarians, diverse clientele, and referral members.
  • Excellent documentation skills for patients, incident reports, operating procedures, and maintenance information.
  • Document patient history, patient vital parameters, medications administered and medical notes pertinent to patient using current veterinary medical terminology and electronic medical record system. Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift patients and equipment regularly that weight up to 50 lbs
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand and walk for frequent and long durations of time Schedule Expectations
  • Expected to work flexible hours and be amenable to changing hours based on hospital and staffing needs.
  • It is expected that you will work on weekends and holidays.
  • The schedule available is for 3 - 12 hours shifts
  • Our hours of operation are 9AM - 9PM, open 7 days a week General Hospital Expectations
  • Maintenance of surgical pack preps
  • Maintenance of drug inventory
  • Maintenance laundry and linen
  • Familiarity with canine and feline breeds Education Requirements
  • High School diploma or higher required
  • 1+ years working as a veterinary assistant
  • Experience in a urgent care or emergency animal hospital setting is a plus Benefits
