The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. This role involves hands-on animal handling, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the well-being of a diverse range of pets and animals. Prior experience in veterinary clinics/hospitals, animal husbandry, or kennel work is highly valued. The Veterinary Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient clinic environment while delivering exceptional pet care. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and colleagues during examinations, treatments, and surgeries Handle and restrain animals safely using proper techniques for dogs and cats Administer medications and vaccines following veterinary instructions Support animal husbandry tasks including feeding, bathing, grooming, and cleaning kennels or cages Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas with sterile techniques and maintain aseptic conditions Collect laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic procedures Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, medications, and procedures Assist with pet care routines such as feeding, walking, and monitoring behavior post surgical recovery Manage front desk responsibilities including client check-in/out and appointment scheduling Educate pet owners on animal care, medication administration, and post-treatment/surgery instructions Skills Animal handling skills for dogs and cats Knowledge of veterinary protocols, terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures Experience with proper equipment operation, medication administration, catheterization (venous and urinary), aseptic technique, and critical care practices Strong animal restraint skills for safe handling during examinations or procedures Ability to perform pet care tasks such as grooming, feeding, and basic first aid Familiarity with veterinary clinic operations including front desk duties Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Prior veterinary assistant or clinic experience is highly desirable This position offers an opportunity to grow within the veterinary field while making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals.
