As part of our specialty oncology service, you'll work alongside board-certified veterinary oncologists and Registered Veterinary Technicians to provide advanced, compassionate cancer care in a collaborative hospital environment. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinary assistant who thrives in specialty medicine, enjoys hands-on patient care, and is eager to expand their skills in veterinary oncology. In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:
Provide exceptional support for oncology patients before, during, and after treatments. Assist with handling, restraint, and comfort of oncology patients while ensuring a low-stress experience. Support chemotherapy administration and oncology treatments under the direction of veterinarians and RVTs. Follow chemotherapy safety and hazardous drug handling protocols to maintain a safe environment. Assist with diagnostic procedures including blood collection, urinalysis, laboratory testing, and imaging support. Prepare treatment and procedure areas while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety standards. Monitor patients during and after treatments, promptly communicating changes in condition to the medical team. Provide compassionate client support and education throughout the cancer care process. Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation. Assist veterinarians and RVTs during procedures, treatments, and oncology rounds. Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture focused on exceptional patient care. What You Bring Minimum two years of experience in a clinical veterinary setting. Specialty or emergency veterinary experience strongly preferred. Strong animal handling and technical veterinary support skills. Willingness to learn oncology-specific procedures, treatments, and chemotherapy safety protocols. Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail. Compassionate, empathetic approach to patient and client care. Calm, adaptable demeanor in emotionally sensitive situations. Collaborative mindset and commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
