Veterinary Assistant / Veterinary Technician Baker Bristol Pet Hospital | Costa Mesa, CA Full-Time or Part-Time | In Person $17.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Build Your Veterinary Career With Us Are you looking for a veterinary hospital where you can learn, contribute, and grow? Baker Bristol Pet Hospital is a long-established, multi-doctor practice that has been caring for pets in Costa Mesa for more than 60 years. We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are open to candidates at different stages of their veterinary careers. Whether you're an experienced Veterinary Assistant, a skilled Technician, or someone looking to develop your clinical skills, we'd like to hear from you. Our hospital sees a diverse caseload of dogs, cats, and exotic pets, with opportunities to gain experience in general medicine, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, diagnostics, and hospitalized patient care. Your Role You'll work directly with our veterinarians and medical team to help keep patients safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout their visit. Depending on your experience and skill level, your day may include: Preparing patients and equipment for examinations and procedures Assisting doctors with appointments, treatments, and diagnostic workups Obtaining patient histories and recording accurate medical information Handling and restraining patients safely and appropriately Collecting blood, urine, fecal, and other diagnostic samples Running and preparing laboratory tests and submitting samples to reference laboratories Obtaining and developing diagnostic radiographs Preparing surgical patients and assisting with surgical procedures Monitoring patients during anesthesia and recovery Providing nursing care and monitoring hospitalized patients Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Assisting with dental cleanings and dental procedures Maintaining treatment areas, equipment, and surgical spaces Keeping supplies stocked and helping maintain an efficient, organized hospital Communicating patient updates and concerns clearly to the veterinary team Providing clients with appropriate instructions regarding medications, home care, and follow-up treatment Training is available for the right candidate. However we are willing to train the right person in conjunction with their veterinary assistant or technician schooling Experience or advanced skills in any of the following are especially valuable: Surgery Anesthesia monitoring Dentistry Hospitalized patient care Exotic animal medicine Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and experienced Veterinary Assistants are encouraged to apply.
