We are seeking someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals, takes pride in providing excellent patient care, and works well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will work closely with our veterinarians and veterinary team to provide high-quality care to our patients while creating a positive experience for our clients. The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, eager to learn, and able to communicate professionally with both clients and coworkers. Responsibilities Safely and compassionately restrain dogs and cats for examinations, treatments, and procedures Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during appointments and treatments Obtain patient histories and accurately document information in medical records Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments and procedures Assist with blood draws, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing as trained Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic procedures Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian or licensed veterinary technician, as permitted Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition Assist with surgical and dental procedure preparation, monitoring, recovery, and cleanup as trained Clean, disinfect, and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, equipment, and hospital workspaces Restock supplies and help maintain an organized and efficient hospital Provide compassionate handling and care to patients while minimizing fear and stress Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients and team members Assist with client education and discharge instructions as directed Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and established treatment protocols Help wherever needed and contribute to a positive, supportive team environment Qualifications Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, animal hospital, or similar animal-care setting Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments Strong communication and customer-service skills Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy hospital environment Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team Positive attitude and willingness to learn Able to take direction and apply feedback Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols Must be comfortable with blood, bodily fluids, medical procedures, and the realities of working in veterinary medicine Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and assisting with animal restraint What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that being a Veterinary Assistant involves more than simply loving animals.
