In this energetic role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians by providing essential animal care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for all animals. Your proactive attitude and attention to detail will help deliver exceptional veterinary services while fostering a compassionate atmosphere. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across various aspects of animal health and veterinary practice. Duties Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring proper animal restraint and handling. Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and administering medications under supervision. Prepare animals for procedures by applying aseptic techniques and maintaining sterile environments. Conduct laboratory tests including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic efforts. Operate imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in diagnostic imaging procedures. Manage animal intake and discharge processes, including animal catheterization, monitoring vital signs, and recording detailed medical notes. Support pet owners with pet care advice, behavioral training (dog training), and education on animal physiology and anatomy. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic environment, including kennel cleaning, equipment sterilization, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and equines with professionalism using animal handling techniques suited for each species. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting dental cleanings or treatments. Skills Proven kennel experience with the ability to manage multiple animals comfortably in a busy setting. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Hands-on experience with dog handling, pet grooming, pet care advice, and animal restraint techniques. Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing, and analysis to aid diagnostics. Familiarity with veterinary imaging procedures such as X-ray operation and interpretation basics. Ability to perform animal catheterization safely while adhering to aseptic techniques. Excellent animal husbandry skills combined with a compassionate approach to pet care. Experience working with equine patients is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential. Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to veterinary dentistry procedures. Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively within the veterinary team and educating pet owners on health topics.
