POSITION DESCRIPTION

Veterinary Assistant/Technician Work Schedule:
Part-Time, 20-30 hours weekly Reports to: Practice Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the direct supervision of the DVMs and Practice Manager, the Veterinary Assistant is responsible for care of our patients and clients. The VA will assist DVMs and RVTs in examining patients, communicating with and educating clients, and administering prescribed treatments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide excellent customer service to all constituents: to include, clients, donors, volunteers, etc.
  • Assist Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) and/or DVM with check-in of patients for exams and other procedures.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain kennels, operating rooms, examination rooms, cages, and surgical equipment as needed.
  • Comfort and restrain pets during examinations and care.
  • Administer treatments to pets.
  • Perform some clerical duties.
  • Monitor, maintain, and recover patients under anesthesia.
  • Provide client education and support as needed.
  • Perform all work related tasks assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Follow all the Valley Animal Center's policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Responsible, dependable and can take initiative.
  • A positive attitude and mature personality conducive to working effectively as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability and aptitude to work within established policies and commitment to adhere to the Valley Animal Center policies.
Pay:
$16.90 - $18.00 per hour
