Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant specializing in Hospital Sanitation! This vital role ensures a clean, safe, and efficient environment for our animal patients and staff. You will be the backbone of our hospital's sanitation and animal handling operations, supporting veterinary professionals in delivering exceptional care. Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all hospital areas, including kennels, surgical suites, treatment rooms, and common spaces, following strict aseptic techniques. Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with medication administration, sample collection, and basic animal care tasks. Handle animals with care, including dog handling and general animal handling to reduce stress and ensure proper restraint. Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample processing, specimen labeling, and basic testing under supervision. Follow veterinary terminology guidelines to communicate effectively with team members about patient care and procedures. Support pet care activities such as feeding, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of distress or illness. Qualifications Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred; experience working in veterinary clinics is highly valued. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices is essential. Experience with animal restraint techniques, medication administration, and laboratory procedures is a plus. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology and basic veterinary assistant responsibilities. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint methods; experience with dog handling is especially beneficial. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols within a veterinary setting. Excellent communication skills for front desk interactions and team collaboration. Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare through previous veterinary assistant or critical care experience is desirable.
