Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing animal restraint techniques to ensure both pet and staff safety during examinations or treatments. Perform animal husbandry duties such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas. Conduct laboratory tests including sample collection, processing specimens for analysis, and operating diagnostic equipment like X-ray machines. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with pet dental cleanings, and handling dental radiographs. Manage animal intake and discharge processes, including animal catheterization, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs to support veterinary critical care. Maintain accurate records of animal physiology, anatomy, treatment plans, and laboratory results to ensure comprehensive patient documentation. Assist with pet training and dog handling activities to improve animal behavior and facilitate smoother clinical procedures. Qualifications Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal care experience is highly valued. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices. Experience with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory testing enhances your ability to contribute effectively. Familiarity with dental terminology, pet grooming techniques, dog training, and animal restraint methods is preferred. Ability to operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines confidently. Strong animal handling skills across different species including dogs and horses; equine experience is a plus. Excellent communication skills paired with a proactive attitude toward learning new veterinary techniques like animal catheterization and aseptic procedures.
