The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and veterinary practices, demonstrating both technical skills and a genuine love for animals. This role is essential in providing high-quality medical care and support for our patients while assisting veterinarians in various procedures. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and analyze samples, including blood work and urinalysis. Utilize veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with team members and clients. Provide animal husbandry by ensuring proper care, feeding, and handling of animals. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Employ aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection. Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint techniques to minimize stress. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Assist in dental cleanings and procedures while utilizing dental terminology effectively. Participate in the grooming of pets as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety. Requirements Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred; kennel experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior. Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices and emergency protocols. Experience with laboratory procedures and equipment is beneficial. Ability to handle various types of animals safely, including dogs and equines. Proficiency in animal catheterization techniques and administering injections. Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and team members effectively. A commitment to providing compassionate care to all animals under your supervision. Willingness to learn new skills related to dog training, pet grooming, or other areas of interest.
