Job Description
Job Summary Hi! We are looking for a vet assistant or RVT to join our little team. We are a family owned hospital that opened 2 years ago and are really enjoying working together to help our community. Above all, getting along with the team and having a positive attitude is most important for us. Let's be serious, working with people everyday who you don't want to be around is not fun and not what anyone wants. Because of that, we are willing to train the right person who shows a real interest and dedication to the profession. We also are very interested in someone with experience AND a great attitude. We cross train because it makes the team more efficient and it makes work more interesting as we grow professionally. Hopefully you have experience you can share with everyone else too! Responsibilities Assist with animal restraint during examinations and treatments Prepare examination rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas with necessary supplies and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques Perform treatment and diagnostics including placing IVCs, taking radiographs, and administrating anesthesia Perform medical collection procedures including blood draws, urine collection, and administering medications Maintain accurate records using veterinary software while adhering to Veterinary Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines. (We use Ezyvet) Handle client communication by scheduling appointments, providing pet care instructions, and answering questions professionally Assist with laboratory work such as sample collection, processing specimens, and recording results to support diagnostic efforts in companion animal medicine Skills Proven experience in veterinary clinics or animal hospitals with knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical-surgical procedures is greatly appreciated Strong animal handling skills including dog handling, animal restraint techniques Competence in laboratory procedures, medical collection techniques, and laboratory equipment operation (it is fine if you haven't worked with our exact machines before) Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners Proficiency in veterinary software systems (or the ability/willingness to learn) Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical assistance techniques Ability to follow aseptic techniques rigorously while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in accordance with regulations This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow within the veterinary field.
