Strengthening the bond between people and their pets by caring for pets and the people who love them $2,500 Hiring Bonus (Registered Veterinary Technician RVT) •$1,000.00 issued after 90 days of employment, $1,500.00 after 180 days of employment. Requires one year of employment retention. $1,500 Hiring Bonus (Veterinary Assistant) •$1,000.00 issued after 90 days of employment, $500.00 after 180 days of employment. Requires one year of employment retention. To obtain a position as a Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician you must have the following qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience , emergency or urgent care experience a plus Must have schedule flexibility and available to work a weekend day. As a Veterinary Technician you are the primary support to Veterinarians and patients alike. Technicians must be able to pay attention to detail, respond quickly and calmly at all times, and maintain the highest quality of patient care and client service. Technicians must have the skills to be competent in the following duties. Assist Veterinarians where needed Proper restraint and handling of patients Give injections Perform appropriate veterinary nursing procedures Efficiently draw blood on patients and place IV catheters Run in-house lab work Prepare and send out outside lab tests Maintain necessary controlled drug logs as required Perform dentals and dental extractions (applies to RVT applicants) Take radiographs, including dental radiographs Surgical preparation of patient and surgery suite Knowledge of surgical equipment and ability to setup and assist the doctor during surgeries Care of hospitalized pets Counsel clients on care Maintenance of facilities and equipment Physical Requirements for Veterinary Technician Position Allergies to animals must be controllable through medication Able to lift 40 pounds Willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during and up to a 10-hour day Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give information in person and on the phone. Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure
